The main aim is to provide basic information on SG1 database (Instrumental and documentary archives) used in Millennium project. Especially documentary evidence and other types of proxies (e.g. phenological observations) are listed here. Descriptive documentary evidence is provided in the form of indices. Indices are used to convert documentary evidence and some other proxies to temperature (T) or precipitation (R) anomalies.
Indices express a relative measure of extremity and are constructed preferentially on monthly level using a 7-degree scale (-3;+3) in the period from AD 1500 onwards or 3-degree scale (-1;+1) in the period 1000-1500. Seasonal (DJF, MAM, JJA, SON) and annual indices are computed as a sum of monthly values. Besides T or R indices some other proxy types are also listed, basic information is summarized in metadata tables. Basic instructions, conventions and comments on indices can be found in this PDF file.
Open the Map to see so far provided data files. Basic information on other proxy series derived from documentary archives is also provided here.
